# MinimalPad Studio for Browser: Configure Keys in Chrome or Edge

> MinimalPad Studio for browser runs in Chrome or Edge on Windows, Linux, and macOS. Remap keys, manage layers, and control lighting with nothing to install.

MinimalPad Studio for browser is the cross-platform configurator for your pad. Open it in Chrome or Edge, connect your MinimalPad, and start editing — no software to install, no firmware to rebuild.

It talks to your pad directly and reads the configuration stored on the device, so what you see on screen is your real, current keymap — not a template.

  **Chrome or Edge only.** Firefox and Safari don't support the Web Serial and Web Bluetooth APIs this needs. On a Mac, [Studio for Mac](/mac/overview) is the better option and has no browser requirement.

## What you can do

* **Change key assignments** — any of the 16 keys, on any layer, plus the dial's button
* **Manage layers** — add, rename, remove, and switch between them
* **Assign Bluetooth actions** — switch between five paired devices, or clear pairings
* **Assign lighting actions** — toggle, hue, saturation, brightness, speed, and effects
* **Use advanced ZMK behaviours** — mod-tap, sticky keys, caps word, and every behaviour compiled into your firmware

## What it can't do

App profiles, profile light colours, named app shortcuts, and keys that open an app are [Studio for Mac](/mac/overview) features — they need a running app on the computer to watch which app is in front, or to do the opening.

Some things live in the firmware and can't be changed from either app, most notably what the dial does when you turn it. See [Advanced customization](/firmware/advanced).
