Bluetooth lets you configure MinimalPad without a cable — useful when the pad is already in its permanent spot on your desk or mounted to a surface. Once paired, opening Studio and clicking the Bluetooth option reconnects in seconds.

Before you begin

Your MinimalPad needs a 3.7 V LiPo battery connected and sufficiently charged. A battery is not included with the pad; see minimalmacropad.com for compatible options. Without a battery, the pad only operates while plugged in over USB-C.
Web Bluetooth support varies by browser and operating system. It works reliably in Chrome on Windows and macOS. On Linux, it may require enabling the chrome://flags/#enable-web-bluetooth flag. If the Bluetooth option is greyed out or missing in Studio, use USB instead — USB works on all supported platforms.

Connect your MinimalPad over Bluetooth

1

Power on MinimalPad

Connect a charged battery and power on the pad, or press any key to wake it from sleep. Make sure the pad is not already connected to another host over Bluetooth — if it is, it will not be discoverable.
2

Open Studio in Chrome or Edge

3

Click the Bluetooth option

In the connection dialog, click Bluetooth (labelled “Connect wirelessly via BLE”). The browser will open its Bluetooth device picker.
4

Pair with your MinimalPad

Select MinimalPad from the list of nearby devices and confirm the pairing request. Your operating system may show an additional confirmation dialog.
5

Wait for the green status indicator

The status bar transitions from amber (connecting) to green and shows “MinimalPad connected”. The pairing is saved by your browser for future sessions.
6

Start editing

Your current keymap loads automatically. No unlock step is required.
No unlock step or unlock key is required. The device is ready to edit as soon as the status indicator turns green.
If Bluetooth is unavailable or unstable in Studio, USB is always a reliable fallback and is required for firmware flashing. See Connect over USB for instructions.

Bluetooth profiles

MinimalPad supports five Bluetooth profiles (slots 1–5), so you can pair it with up to five different hosts — for example, a desktop, a laptop, and a tablet. You can switch profiles, clear individual slots, or clear all profiles using the Device Controls key assignment category in Studio.
