The Media & Apps category gives you dedicated keys for controlling audio playback, volume, display brightness, and common application actions — without needing the target app to be in focus. Assign any of these to a MinimalPad key and control your media from anywhere.

Assign a media or app control

Open Studio and connect your MinimalPad

Go to studio.minimalmacropad.com in Chrome or Edge, then connect via USB or Bluetooth.

Click the key you want to assign

Click any key on the on-screen layout. The action picker opens on the right.

Choose the Media & Apps category

Select Media & Apps from the action category picker.

Select an action

Browse the available controls and select the one you want.

Click Assign

The action is applied immediately so you can test it right away.

Save your changes

Click Save to write the assignment to your MinimalPad’s flash memory.

Available controls

Playback Volume Display Browser and application
The controls available in Studio are read from your installed firmware. If an action does not appear in the picker, it may not be included in your firmware build. You can add support for additional consumer key codes by editing the firmware. See Advanced Customization for details.
Media keys operate at the OS level and work globally — the target app does not need to be focused. This makes them ideal for play/pause while you are in a code editor, design tool, or terminal.
